Marketing For Hair Salons – Do You Need Help?

Many of us Salon Owners are inundated daily with various promotions for the latest hair products or styling tools. The majority of the promotions are for either the same-old, same-old or a rediscovered version; no real value, nothing different and most of the time we are just spending money keeping up with the competition.

i want to start a hair salon and the broker asked me for my business plan..he said because my Business was not a salon chain. can he ask for that? ive never had a problem before i had my other business in my home town.i just feel that was so unfair just cuss i don’t have all the money the chains salons do.
im just trying to lease a space..

What kind of broker is this …a lending broker or a real estate broker?
If Realtor, tell ‘em to shove off and find another Realtor as it is none of his/her business as long as you have the money to rent / buy what you want.

I live in East Texas, and I’ve decided to go with Reliant Energy. I’ve had nothing but trouble from TXU. -_-

Anyways, I live in a one-bedroom flat (second story above a hair salon) by myself. I’m not sure which would be better, the Reliant Energy Monthly eFlex Plan, or the Reliant PowerTracker?

I don’t plan on staying in this location for over a year (probably another 9-10 months) so I have to be able to cancel the service by then. Thanks in advance!

Go with the power tracker. Not only is the monthly rate lower per kw, but natural gas is actually getting cheaper and cheaper. Thus, the monthly basis for the usage charge should drop accordingly and you’ll appreciate the savings. You don’t need the flex plan—you’re looking to spend the least necessary while preserving the right to cancel at will without penalty.

Question by creativestarwish: desire to open a studio hair salon- questions?
My ultimate goal and dream in my career as a stylist and makeup artist is to open up a studio salon. I have unique ideas and have had a business plan drawn up for two years, but keep adding to it as my ideas keep growing. There is no other studio salon like the one I have in mind around this area. I want to be the first to do this, but need to do some more homework first. I am a great stylist and makeup artist, but that doesn’t mean I’d make a great business owner.

So these question not only apply to salon owners, but for small-business owners as well: What can I do to educate myself more on opening a business? What are the #1 things I need to know before I do this. How can I make sure that my studio salon will not fail?

Thanks in advance! Any help, suggestions or ideas would be appreciated greatly.

please read… i have a business plan made up. I have been editing it for the past two years. I have every little detail, cost, amount, etc. for what I would need in order to have an 8 chair salon.

Starting a small business takes a lot of courage. But, as they say, courage does not pay the bills. To be successful – to stay in business – you need more than courage. You need a combination of hard work, skill, perseverance, and lots of luck.

Some things you need to consider:
- “How can I support my family while I build up by business?”
- “What are my abilities?”
- “Is there a market for the product or service I have chosen?”
- “How long will it take this business to reach the financial goal I have?”

Remember a business plan is only a guide. In fact, I’ve met many entrepreneurs in my line of work who eventually found their business plans USELESS because of too many simplistic (if not tototally false assumptions made). It may do you good if you enroll in an entrepreneurship course. SBA has a network of training and counselling services per state http://www.sba.gov/ed/ – you may want to contact their agency in your state and find out the free or low cost training programs they offer. They have courses such as Smart Start Entrepreneur 101 for $ 35
